A multifunctional headquarter

The new head office offers everything the Alliance needs. It combines several functions: modern meeting and press rooms, offices for the delegations, the military representatives, the international secretariat and the international headquarters, the partners’ agencies and delegations, sophisticated security, communication and IT-installations and audiovisual resources. And, there will also be room for other services: restaurants, a bank, shops and areas to relax and exercise.

A challenging project

For the design, we had to solve several challenges. To match a stern, sober and functional building with spectacular shapes with an acceptable level of comfort, using sustainable techniques and materials.

We took a modular and flexible approach: the elements can be systematically redecorated and/or extended. This way, they are always ready to accommodate 4,000 people. The NATO-project covers 250,000 m², making it the largest Belgian construction site for years to come.
